BBC Writers Networking
Saturday 1 June | 9:30 | Odeon Luxe West End BBC Writers look forward to welcoming festival attendees to a networking breakfast (9:30 – 10:30am). Following this event there will be an opportunity to chat informally to members of the BBC Writers team and find out how the BBC works with emerging writers to develop their creative careers (10:30 to 12 noon).

Jess Loveland
Jess Loveland is Head of New Writing working across the BBC Writers and Drama Commissioning teams. Jess oversees all new writing talent development initiatives and works closely with the BBC Writers team to ensure the BBC creates a vibrant and inspiring home for new writers across the UK. Previously, Jess was Head of BFI NETWORK, the BFI’s UK-wide programme of talent development support for early career writers, directors and producers. She has also worked as a Development and Production Exec for screen agency, Creative England and as a Development Exec for Dublin-based production company, Blinder Films amongst other editorial roles.
Usman Mullan
Usman Mullan is a Development Producer for BBC Writers. He looks after writer development focusing on Drama and Comedy Drama, leading on BBC Writers core UK wide development programmes such as: the WRITERS’ ACCESS GROUP, SCRIPTED, and VOICES. His speciality is identifying, nurturing and developing new screenwriting talent, as well as championing and finding opportunities for emerging writers across the BBC and beyond (with a focus on North of England and the Midlands). He regularly works in partnership with production and editorial teams in BBC Drama, BBC Children’s Commissioning, Audio Drama, BBC Studios, and independent production companies across the UK. Usman has worked across scripted development and production for TV, audio, and digital platforms.
